The most common culprit for chronic plantar fasciitis is leaving it untreated. Most often we just walk it off and figure it will go away. Walking and running on untreated plantar fasciitis can lead to prolonged pain and limits your mobility.
People just don't think about strengthening their feet. Even when plantar fasciitis begins, Google, your MD, and your neighbor just offer you solutions such as incorrect stretches like rolling your foot on a golf ball or providing costly orthotics to further just provide support for your already weak feet. Although support can help, first, your foot needs to be STRENGTHENED to heal properly.
There is an unreasonable expectation of having a wonder pill or shot that will just solve the problem in an instant. Unfortunately, cortisone injections can actually weaken the plantar fascia and further injure it. Pain medications such as Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatories can inhibit the bodies healing capabilities. Neither of these options provide any structural improvement to the foot and can provide a false sense of feeling better, only to lead to a most definite recurrence.
There is hope, but rather than just treating the symptoms of plantar fasciitis with quick fixes like cortisone injections, orthotics, or a couple of stretches like those you already found on YouTube, natural and long lasting relief can be found by working with our expert physical therapists who truly understand the foot and how it interacts with the body as a whole.
